The Orange County Hall of Fame was established by the County Supervisors in 2023 to "honor the brilliant minds, influential leaders and outstanding talents who have shaped the cultural, economic and social fabric of Orange County, California." Though the induction ceremony was criticized for its lack of diversity, this year's nominees included Orange County civic and philanthropic leaders such as former President Richard Nixon, civil rights activist Sylvia Mendez, labor and veterans leader Nick Berardino, and former County Supervisor Bill Steiner. Each member of the OC Hall of Fame is nominated in a specific category for their significant contributions, including music, arts and entertainment, sports, business, philanthropy and civic engagement. The 2023 inductees and their respective categories are: Amanda Beard in sports, Kobe Bryant in sports, Walt Disney in music, arts and entertainment, Frank Zhao in business, Greg Louganis in sports, General William Ryan in civics, Bill Medley in music, Henry Segerstrom in arts and entertainment, philanthropy, Gwen Stefani in music, arts and entertainment, and Tiger Woods in sports.
